If there was save points there would be no challenge and there wouldn't be nearly as much replayability. I thought half of the fun from twisted metal I & II was trying to beat the damn game because I couldn't for so long. Then when I did it was amazing and I wanted to do it again with other characters. Besides the gameplay is designed so you would enjoy playing it over and over again. It's not like most games where it's fun to play but if you have to do something more than twice it gets boring because you already know how to beat it.
