The NES and SNES sold quite well after the release of the next gen, that's because they were market leaders like the PS2. Why would Sony want to drag the PS2 into another generation? It makes no sense. I think 2011 is a perfect time to discontinue the PS2 even if its selling pretty good. I think its time people move on to the PS3. Exactly how do you expect people to move on to the PS3 when the PS2 is still out. They need to discontinue the console soon because they can't walk in the 8th geneartion with their new console, the Ps3 and still dragging the PS2 along with them. It makes a lot of sense.
