He's lying out his bum flaps if he says any publisher ever told him they should put all, most or even a proportionate amount of their resources in to the Wii. The fact that the systems smashing success occaisionally leads to publishers saying "maybe we should try something" is a far cry from a substantial allocation of resources. It really has been unfortunate for the industry that they bet on the wrong horses and then completely locked in all their major franchises on those horses.
Of course hardcore games are selling more on the systems that got Resident Evil 5, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto, Modern Warfare (on time), Borderlands, Left for Dead, Final Fantasy, Batman Arkham Asylum, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Rainbow 6, Pure, Fight Night, Lost Planet, UFC, Street Fighter, Soul Calibre, Tekken, Devil May Cry, Prototype, PES (on time), Dead space (if you're going to make a spin off, you put it on the console people can play the game on!), Prince of Persia and so on.
Nearly every major gaming franchise that isn't made by Nintendo skipped the Wii. Of course the hardcore gamers are going to go where the games are. Of course, if Publishers had seen in to the future, they'd have put their games on Wii from the start, both selling tons of games and keeping costs lower.
I maintain that had Dev's and Publishers focused on the Wii from the get go, we wouldn't be dealing with massive layoffs at a time when the industry is at it's most successful.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
