Here we go, what I typed up from your last thread:

Point 1) Most Demon Souls levels have shortcuts that make subsequent tries easier. Once you open the main gate in the first level for example, you need only walk up a few sets of stairs to fight the boss. Other levels allow you to skip large portions of the level if you make it far enough.

Point 2) The combat makes it far less repetitive than most games. In many RPGs, you have a list from which you select attacks, buffs, items which I largely find very repetitive. In DS all your attacks, evades, shield, magic, and item use need to be executed properly in real time, paying special attention to your stamina. Chances are you hate DS because you're trying to play it a certain way and that's not working at all. You need to let it consume you.

Admittedly though, it's not for everyone.
