Its really funny reading all the 'america is not the world', 'world sales are more important than america sales' etc. The problem with looking at worldwide sales is that the distribution of console sales are so skewed from one continent to the other. This is importamt, because software likes/dislikes are so skewed from one continent to another as well, thus looking at a number as a whole has absolutely no value, especially since both Xbox and PS3 have been known to loosing money on hardware until recently (thus, the more consoles they sell, the more money they loose). They make this up with sales of peripherals, and saftware.

Thus the real important numbers are software and peripheral hardware sales for each company. The reason why America is 'so improtant' is because of the massive domination in software sales. Look at the attach rates for each console in each region. America is almost 2:1 software sold per console. Thus each console sold in america = 2 consoles sold in others. What this means is that more and more software is catered to American markets, hardware is catered to American markets, and thus American numbers are the most important numbers. If people outside of America are offended, then its time to put your money where your mouth is and buy more software. I am tired of this anti-American sentiment.
