NPD is way off 
but not for everything.
360 is fine (7% difference, i.e. negligible), for PS3 it's a tad off (14% difference), for Wii it's way off (32% diff), for DS it's way off (29% diff), for PSP it's waaay off (53% diff, quite a big deal for PSP given it's teetering in the US), for PS2 it's wa-ha-haaay off (90% diff, but who cares right? PS2 is all but gone anyway even if VGC is right on the money).
NPD really needs to look at its sampling and estimation methodology.
