As of right now the sequel to the DS game Hotel Dusk has no plans for any sort of release outside of Japan, which makes me sad because Hotel Dusk was (and currently is) one of my favorite DS titles.
A couple of things to point out:
-One of Cing's (the devs behind the Hotel Dusk series) latest offerings, the game "Again", already has a U.S. release date for March 2010. What's weird about this is that Again seems to be exactly in the same vein as Hotel Dusk, albeit with characters and a scenario that aren't already as established as Hotel Dusk. Perhaps Nintendo's releasing that first before making any Last Window calls?
-Hotel Dusk had somewhat of a worldwide launch, actually releasing in North America a few days ahead of the Japanese release, and shortly releasing afterwards in the rest of the world in a three month span. Last Window had a Japanese release of January 14.
-The original game sold roughly 200,000 units in America alone, with Japan topping out at about 20,000 units more, which seem to be great reason to at least consider an overseas release in my opionion. VGChartz doesn't have any "Others" data, however.
So, with the above being said, are there any chances this game releases outside of Japan? Considering the game didn't show up in Nintendo's Q1 release report, could we see a date announced anytime soon, like say at the upcoming media summit, or do you think the game going to stay in the "Japan Only" list?
