Hmm does Square Enix have total control deciding which console they will develop it for? Or Disney also own part of the stake? because Disney has a very close relationship with Nintendo and has faith in the Wii greatly.
If this matters, if not thats ok I am just putting it out there that i find to be interesting.
EPIC MICKEY -
""The game was originally in development for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Development on the Wii started in 2008, when the idea of addressing a Wii port of the game was raised; Specter replied that a straight Wii port would not be viable, remarking that many of the "design ideas just won't work on the Wii, we need to give the Wii its dues". Graham Hopper of Disney Interactive then suggested dropping the development of the aforementioned platforms completely, and instead releasing it solely on the Wii.[11]""
Concerning Kingdom Hearts 3:
"Square Enix riled gamers up with a bizarre quote from a Wall Street Journal article on the looming competition between Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii this fall. As the publication examined each of the platform's expected strengths, they turned a focus to the RPG powerhouse, who didn't exactly respond with the resounding exclusivity support we saw last generation.
"We don't want PlayStation 3 to be the overwhelming loser, so we want to support them," says Michihiro Sasaki, senior VP of Square Enix. "But we don't want them to be the overwhelming winner either, so we can't support them too much."
-----> "Er, what? Most came away from this quote convinced Square Enix was readying massive support for Wii, which, while possible, probably isn't the underlying message here. Rather, Square Enix likely realizes PS3 doesn't have ensured dominance this generation, and rather than pool all their support behind Sony right from the start, they're going to let the market play itself out for a while -- case in point, Square Enix so heavily supporting Nintendo DS over PSP."
--------->"Earlier in the story, however, the journalists make mention of where various Square Enix franchises are landing, specifically noting the high-end Final Fantasy sequels will find themselves on PlayStation 3, but more importantly, they have yet to decide who will receive the next Kingdom Hearts."
[What I personally believe is going to happen is this, which is perfectly said by him]:
Mr Khan @ Feb 6th 2010 5:53PM:"Depends on who's pulling the strings in the partnership. Disney is going to stump for it to go on Wii, especially if Epic Mickey does well, whereas Nomura himself is probably going to push for PS3, which would inevitably become HD multiplat
My guess is that Disney would convince Square Enix that there is more growth potential for the franchise on Wii, but that depends on whether Disney itself becomes convinced of that."
