To each his own. I think MGS4 is brilliant, because it tells an interesting story and has good gameplay to back it up with. So when I'm playing, I enjoy that, and when I watch a cutscene, I enjoy the story. And I loved Fahrenheit (which is probably the best example of an interactive movie that has been released so far).
I loathe point and click adventure games though. To me, the Ace Attorney series is vastly overrated. So it's a matter of taste, and I've grown to accept that some people just want and enjoy different things.
However, I voted "steaming pile" because you're hating on Heavy Rain
