Nope.  They send you back new models without BC.  Hence why i'd get mine fixed myself.

It happened to a friend of a coworker who was confused why his PS3 didn't have BC anymore after he got it back from Sony.

He had an old 80 gig and it got replaced with a new 80 gig.

That's legal? O_o

How could they send you back something with less options than the one you sent to them for repairs?
