That and... the actual shipped numbers are out now... so there isn't really a reason to keep argueing about this. It indeed was about 33 million. 33.5 shipped actually.
The guy must be talking sellthrough numbers. Which is as stated, very rare for Sony to do. It may actually be the first time.

This site tracks sold to consumers. What Stringer and Sony were reporting were shipped numbers. As was Dille's 360 figure.

Shipped numbers are what they sold told to retailers correct? Shouldn't that count as actual sales since what retailers sell goes into their own pockets? Sorry to pick your brain with all these questions. |
For finacial reports sure. The numbers NPD and VGchartz provide have their own value though. For example it helps predict future shipped numbers.. since stores will only take so much stock. For software it makes theorizing about sequels more possible etc.
