Mario Galaxy 2 is out Dec 31st. Can it qualify for Game of the Year 2011?

Oh, I wouldn't say that. I don't think games have to be fresh in your memory for them to count for GOTY material. I'm sure Mass Effect 2 will get tons of recognition 10 months from now, for example, when the time comes for GOTY 2010.
