Since that year, the only time they made a profit was in 2008 (GTA4 of course), but that profit wasn't enough to cover any of the losses in 2006/2007/2009, let alone the three together.

It doesn't seem so. I couldn't find 2005, but between 2001-2004 they only lost money in 2001, and it was very little:

Oh. Possibly losing money since 2005 then. But 2002-04 they had actually a decent profit.
