I was in a thread about JRPGs vs WRPGs and stated how JRPGs need to innovate until someone pointed out most of the JRPG market (and innovation in the genre) has moved to handhelds; namely the DS. Most of the games are being released for the DS and will continue to be made for the DS as they can keep the budget small whilst still selling to a massive userbase. It's a win-win situation for them. If you want your AAA JRPGs that's probably where you need to start looking.
On home consoles MS seems to be pushing devs and publishers really hard to release on 360 but most of the time it hasn't worked out well in terms of sales (or indeed critical reception). Hopefully the release of FFXIII will reignite some interest in the genre and we'll see some new and quality titles hitting the home consoles. However, DS will still have the most JRPGs.
