Well in fairness we have the likes of Madworld, Conduit, Valkria (and probably Bayonetta if that pattern is anything to go by) higher than NPD by reasonable amounts so I'm not entirely in disagreement with NPD seeming to undertrack core Sega stuff by 10-30%.

Fair enough, and I don't take NPD as gospel myself.  I think we've already talked their troubling Wal-mart multiplier method actually.

I just find the source of this figure (who also threw out multiple fallacies in the same podcast) to be rather questionable.  And then this invented Siras vs NPD false dichotomy... it's like wtf?  Who even said that? :/

Hmm which fallacies again? I just rmember the Yakuza voice thing being brought up, which was quickly dispelled. Care to take the time to bulletpoint the actual fallacies?

At this point I think your trying a little too hard.  You were complaing about people with a "wii bias"... but honestly it's painfly obvious that you very much want valkria chronicles to have sold more that this to a very large degree.

I'm not sure your the most objective person to be argueing at said point.

The Yakuza thing was never adequetly dispelled...

listening to the podcast... he does sound pretty clueless honestly.

Nah was just curious. If you guys are not aware of the contract implications of using original voicework, theres not much I am willing to do to dispell it. Do a little research and you will find it takes money, also - the sum he referred to included voice talent contracts but covered the whole scope of localization not just voice.

Anyhow, I wouldnt make to many assumptions of my motivations. You will just embarass yourself.

On a final note, its time to bow out of this thread. Its turning into the same shitthread the Wii thread did, for the same reasons. Even if some folk are right and the Wii is a viable platform for 3rd parties and mature games, it does not mean that certain publishers do not have ample reason to think differently. And it is certainly not a good excuse to throw up armies of straw men every time this guys name is mentioned.

Speaking of research, maybe you should actually listen to the podcast?  It's pretty obvious he wasn't talking about the Japanese original tracks, but an english dub.

Not the Yakuza part for a while TBH, just check a transcript thought and yeah you are right on this. Just so used to seeing inanities that I wrongfully assumed this was another one. My bad on this one.

Looking it over again, the beginning part - it also becomes clear that the interview was recorded around the time the announcement for Yak3 official lozalization was made, and he had been in his new role as a studio head for a couple months before that. So, yeah no wonder he was not aware at interview time that Yakuza 3 had been settled as subtitle only. Taken in context , it hardly serves to discredit him overall, and though I was technically wrong about his reference to the VO -  that whole VO/Takuza argument could never be reasonably made to discredit anything else he says in the first place.
