Sure but Avatar still has a change to catch Titanic's numbers even if you figure in inflation. Avatar still has a change to make a lot more money and it could get a large Oscar boost if it wins enough of then. Also Titanic was at the movies for almost a year and no movie today stays in theaters that long even if does good because studios are too eager to earn their DVD/Blu Ray profits as soon as possible.
