You should focus on upgrading the ship and completing side-missions, time will be important after obtaining the IFF.

He can still do side missions after gaining the IFF. I had a similar experience to Starcraft, I thought I missed a character too. I'm still doing side quests now. I'm getting each star system to 100% to make sure I didn't miss any side quests and I have the IFF. I'm refusing to use the Omega 4 Relay because I think that's going to prompt me to reinsert disc 1.

Yeah that happened. It freaked me out for bit because I hadn't scanned all the planets yet. I thought I wouldln't be able to conclude my side missions. I'm still able to travel all over the galaxy and do side missions though. I haven't touched the Omega 4 Relay because I'm sure if I do, it will send me into final mission of the game.

Yes, passing through the Omega-4 Rally will start the final mission, however you can still travel around the galaxy after it, providing you survived. But there is one small problem, I wont spoil it, you'll find out at the end.

I have a bad feeling you are going to tell me that....you have to chase immediately after the Collectors to save your crew. ME1 didn't have take accounting of time and neither has ME2 thus far unless it was one of those you have 5 minutes to escape before the station/building explodes missions. Please tell me that isn't the case.

I have bad news. After the crew gets kidnapped and the IFF is installed you have time to do one mission, afterwards the Collectors will "kill" them.

Damn and I hadn't been staggering my saves like I usually do. I'm gonna have to go back probably 4 or 5 hours then.
