Kenryoku_Maxis said: Why should Sony pay millions to get the rights to a weak franchise? Shenmue didn't help sell Dreamcast consoles (even with its million in sales). It certainly didn't do well on XBOX (dropping down to only 300,000 sold compared ot its predecessor). And frankly, it is little more than an afterthought in the mind of Sega fans and 'what if' hardcore fans who remember the days of the Dreamcast. What could it possibly hope to benefit going to the PS3 aside from some dry hype and hopefully selling to some Sega fans....which are mostly buying Wii games? |
1. It's a Japanese-centric title just like Yakuza.
2. It's Playstation and the Japanese respond in a descriminant fashion to consoles as well as the games. The Xbox version was a weak attempt to draw westerners to this game.
3. Why shouldn't Shenmue get the benefit of the doubt when Shenmue 1 & 2 nearly sold 2 million copies here and abroad? If you want to go on judging great games that don't sell in a stellar fashion on a Sony system go after Team ICO games as well.
