Yaknow i was just thinking this over as i saw the thread title and was thinking that in actuality "casual" games COULD be helping the "hardcore" games industry.
hear me out
If casual games appeal more the a broader audience and therefore sell more creating more disposable revenue it could be that these same companies can use this more bountiful revenue for more risky ventures into new ips that appeal to the "hardcore" crowd.
just food for thought i have no proof as i dont have access to companies budgets but it makes sense to me
