Yeah that's where it hurts people playing the ME2 without playing ME1 the most. Anything involving the ME1 cast won't hit them the way it should. You can't get a feel for Garrus in particular. Tali suffers from the same problem as Garrus. I don't think she is quite as bad of as Garrus because her personality is largely the same. Garrus changed a lot and you don't really have the same feel as to why if you didn't play the first game. Plus you lose out on the emotional pull you get when you see your ME1 love interest for the first time or hear about anything involving the team member you left behind on Virmire. You know what thinking back on it, I still haven't beaten ME2 and Im a good ways in, I agree with you completely. You have to play ME1 first. The more I think about ME2, the more I think about how it would not be the same without playing the first game. You are absoluety right Rocketpig and I was most certainly mistaken.
