As I've said before Amazon ranking is a very bad way to determine popularity ...

Awhile back I was curious how many of any game related product it took to get (close to) the #1 spot on Amazon.com; after watching for a couple of weeks and looking at the stock numbers for several top ranked items it turned out that #1 would be (roughly) 20 items sold per day.

Beyond that, there are lots of places that have Elite systems in stock

I dont believe that for a second. Amazon is a huge national place. They may be a small percent of overall national sales but 20 in a day is a joke. A SINGLE BEST BUY STORE can get 20-40 wii's and sell them in a day. You're telling me amazon that goes out to the whole country sells less than one store in one chain!? Yeah right. Whatever methodology you used to derive that was extremely flawed I'm sure. Do you think Amazon sells only 20 Wii's a day? Yeah right.

You cannot tell anything by looking at the stock numbers. I've read articles about the amazon sales system and they stated you cannot tell anything about qauntity sold from ranking, only amazon has that info. In this case they were talking about books, but it applies to all products.

Another thing which makes your story extreme bunk was, in the article about book sales they were talking about rankings in the 5,000 to 7,000 range. If the top seller in videogames was 20 items, then only like the top twenty items in videogames would probably have even one unit sold, and hundreds of items would have zero sales for the day so why do they rank down into the hundreds and lower? It would be a like a 4,000 way tie with zero unit sales. Makes no sense at all.

Seriously man, try to think a little more cautiously..

The links for elite you listed in stock were both canada, btw. I live in America.

I also just looked and itrackr has national Elite availability at 33%. We all know their system is flawed but nevertheless this is a pretty low number (by comparison as of my spot check this post, Wii=19%, Guitar Hero 2 360=62%, Wii remote=79%).

I'd say at the least MS has sold through most of the first shipment..

Best Buy.com America:Sold out (although they sell out easily)

Wal Mart.com only has an expensive bundle and it's sold out:

Circuit City has it at the top of their best selling products list on their homepage as of now (this may change, I'm typing this at 12:30 AM Saturay)

It IS in stock as of now at CC though (probably why it's top seller)

Target.com and EBgames.com dont seem to carry the sku yet as I round out the top retailers.
