Well, you are suposed to die in that fight, so I guess the developers idea was to have the most agressive fighting ambient possible there.

Pretty much like EncodedNybble said, but I will add that you consider the Dragon Long Sword +5, mainly because it will work wonders in world 5 against the Giant Goblins and the bosses there.
