he could have defended the girl rather than kill the boyfriend. Self defense would have been good enough, but obviously the court didn't find it that way. Either that, or he could have taken it to the police. There is no way you can defend a person like that.

I see no reason to give prison inmates any luxeries, especially since I have to pay to support them. I'd give them some books and things to study to make their lives more productive when they get out of jail, but that is about the limit.
