Virgin are appartantly capable of supporting 3D through their current HD box but whether they will have the content to show as early as Sky is unlikely. They were very slow at rolling out HD channels and I would expect Sky to keep much of their 3D content (Sports/Movie channels) to themselves for a while.
The subscription thing is surprising. They usually role out new technology to reinvigorate the market or to justify a price increase. As they claim 3D will work with the current HD box and that subscription prices will remain the same it doesn't seem to be doing either of those. Perhaps they are really going in for the kill with Virgin and trying to take as much market share as possible.
