The GC and N64 were also very first-party driven platforms, honestly. That's basically what gave Sony the open door to move in and take over. The Nintendo platforms didn't have another aspect to be competitive with, unlike the Wii, so they "flopped" from the 3rd party perspective -- but Nintendo still came out ahead.

I like some of the idea you posted, Source. The Wiimote is kinda inaccurate without WM+, however. I don't think any game which requires precise motion would do well without WM+ -- that includes racing, martial arts, sword play... lots of easy doors to classic game types and genres. Its a shame WM+ wasn't in the original controller. Honestly, the sorts of games you mention would be totally fun if the Wiimote wasn't so young, technologically, when the Wii was released.

In an ironic twist, the Wii's lack of precise motion control, without WM+, kind of makes it hard to do serious/core games with motion control on the Wii... and for the same reason that MS and Sony will have trouble attracting a large casual audience with their new controllers -- they didn't ship with them, from day 1.
