It will allow the Wii to stream movies from the Netflix website. The Wii will not be able to play DVDs.

You mean like youtube? So I have to have inernet while watching the movie?

Yes. If you are a Netflix member, you can stream some movies directly from their website. It does not currently support the Wii, but when this goes into effect, it will.
