Why all of a sudden is Killzone a Killer App?

I agree, even proven developers can make average games. There is no guarantee of success on any project, which was my point.

I have watched the in-engine trailers, and they didn't seem significantly better than already-released titles like Gears of War or Resistance. Regardless, all the pretty graphics in the world won't save a game with boring gameplay. Nothing shown so far about the game leads me to believe that it will take the genre in interesting directions, where already-released games like Half-Life 2 and Bioshock have already made great strides.

I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. I'm just less likely to be excited about it due to the developer's track record, until I see more of the game than a couple of brief trailers and pretty tech demos.
