Just read the gamepro review of TvC (4 out of 5) and one of their complaints is having to unlock characters.
Maybe times have changed, but I love unlocking characters. Going from 24 to 56 in marvel vs capcom 2, going from 8 to 12 in the original super smash bros, going from 10 to 19 in soul caliber.... those are some of my favorite gaming memories. I love that "I wonder who's next" feeling. I guess maybe things are different with most rosters being spoiled these days with early leaks on the internet, but I still like it.
