1. Haven't played mario kart extensively, but its really fun & has a very simpl track editior with which you can make complex things too. This is coming from someone who thought LBP's level creator was too time consuming/complex/boring
2. Yes it is & it deserves to be as the full game wll have an extensive career mode too. Split screen racing & much much more.
