And Colette is the worst female lead in a Tales game, ever. PERIOD. If she says "I'm sorry" one more time I'm going to bitchslap her so hard that she won't need the Tower of Salvation to get to Tethe'Alla. I hope Marta completely pwns her in RK and shows her what a real female lead is.
Phantasia's soundtrack blows Symphonia's out of the water.
I hate tearing down games I like, but Symphonia is a far cry from the best of Tales - in any category. |
Says the guy who likes Tales of the Abyss, one of the worst. In every category. Anyway, I agree that some of them didn't have *enough* development, but they certainly had much more unique personalities overall. Just cause Regal wasn't on obnoxious asshole like Luke doesn't mean he had no personality. He was just a subdued and quiet person. Do you only like characters who are loud asses? Presea had a great story and of course it took a while for her to regain her personality! My god do you reject anything that might make you think or feel emotions past the basic "LOL KILL PEOPLE?" Yeah, lets make all characters into mindless killing machines and ass holes like Luke! Then games will be great! Or maybe characters can be like Sora and have no thoughts past "Save my friend" for two hole games. Because god forbid any characters have some internal conflicts! As far as Collete goes, she was an interesting character and provided great comic relief. At least she had some unique personality traits. Whether you liked them or not is another matter, but thank god not everyone is as cookie cutter as you want them to be. Also, you consider Tales of Phantasia music good??? Cause Fighting of the Spirit is a truly original score! They play 4 tones over and over in midi. Yeah, man, what genius. Right up there with Nobuo Uematsu. |
Oh come on, you can do better than that. Half of your argument is just Luke, and I never actually mentioned him at all before. But now that we're on the subject, yes, I do like Snarky bastards to an extent. At least, I like Snarky!Hero more than Stupid!Hero (Lloyd), and Snarky Luke was a whole better concept than Emo Luke. I liked Ryudo in Grandia II. It didn't take Presea awhile to regain her personality - because she never did. She had like 2 or 3 fits of human emotion the entire game. That doesn't sound like taking awhile to regain your personality, that sounds more like a personal problem. I suggest she seek professional for why she feels human emotions once every 3 weeks. Collete wasn't that interesting, and she was only funny like two or three times (Raine had comic relief down much better). She had NO business falling down after every dungeon for two whole discs. Seriously, there's being clumsy and then there's throwing your ass on the ground like an attention whore. Damn heifer already has wings, what else does she want? And yes, Phantasia > Uematsu, and Symphonia agrees, as it made painfully clear by using a Phantasia theme again for the Ratatoskr Knight trailer. Uematsu had maybe 3 or 4 good FF soundtracks (FF6 and 9 included) and the rest were mediocre. Worse offenders probably being FF7, seriously, people keep orgasming over One Winged Angel when the only thing they can understand in the entire track of people screaming in latin is "SE-PHI-ROTH!" The bad midi makes my ears bleed. Of course, Uematsu had to prove that he continues to improve with time, so he goes on board SSBB with theme made of...more people screaming in latin. You've certainly outdone yourself Uematsu, sir. |
