A simple mis-spelling of the word "doomed" in a thread title of a thread about the PS3 being in trouble. This was sometime in early 2009.

I always thought it came from a thread made by squilliam where he was speaking about the PS3 being "domed" because of the shape of the PS3 console in regards to the curved top.

He made the thread, yes. But a poster mis-spelled "doomed" in a thread before hand. It's been used as a joke ever since. If anything, Squilliam just made it big, but it didn't originate from him.
