Actually , we are probably due a new system from Leapfrog. They come out with them about every six months in an effort to frustrate parents, forcing them to upgrade.
Of course, Nintendo does not believe in screwing consumers over to this degree. Hence it has tended to maintain some BC in the initial releases of its handhelds and made an effort this generation to keep last generation gamers able to play their games. A Wii HD would destroy that because the cost of the direct BC or UG path would make the console cost prohibitive compared to the value it would bring. (I am speaking here with respect to existing Wii games, not Gamecube games).
Instead, Nintendo will do what Nintendo has always done -- it will bring out its next console when it wants to and it will do something different.
Smellivision anyone?

Smellivision is probably at least as accurate as Pacther!
I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |
