I'm gonna play for another 2 hours before I completely stop and just wait to get the english version. So far, the game does get a bit tougher. One of my characters finally died [Hope]! I've also run into another Optima that Vanille has called Jammer. Basically the opposite of enhancer; rather then strengthen you it weakens the opponent.
