Your right Darkshadow. The PS3 is very different than it's predecessors. But that doesn't make it the underdog. It's the technological behemoth that was expected to crush all in it's way but got bogged down in high prices, multiplat development and a runaway success by a quirky and innovative console (by Nintendo, who definitely was the underdog) I'd say a better analogy than underdog would be the titanic.
It was promised to be the ultimate achievement and runaway success, and quickly struck a berg and took on water. Fortunately for Sony, they seem to be in control of their bilge pumps, and the beast is making a tepid, but meaningful resurgence.
