Well Sony's strategy always has been to have quite a few 2-3 million sellers instead of just having two 5+ million sellers like MS.
They are not so dependent on one franchise.

Eh, this gen they have about the same number of games over 2m though?

Microsoft Games Studios

  1. Halo 3 (2007)
  2. Gears of War (2006)
  3. Gears of War 2 (2008)
  4. Halo 3 ODST (2009)
  5. Forza Motorsport 2 (2007)
  6. Fable II (2008)
  7. Forza Motorsport 3 (2009)
  8. Mass Effect (2008)

Sony Computer Entertainment

  1. Resistance: Fall of Man (2006)
  2. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (2008)
  3. MotorStorm (2006)
  4. LittleBig Planet (2008)
  5. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (2007)
  6. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009)
  7. Killzone 2 (2009)

It's about first party games no?

Those are all 1st party games.

Here's each last gen for comparison...

Sony Computer Entertainment

  1. Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec (2001)
  2. Gran Turismo 4 (2004)
  3. EyeToy Play (2003)
  4. SOCOM: US Navy SEALs (2002)
  5. The Getaway (2002)
  6. God of War (2005)
  7. Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (2001)
  8. Ratchet & Clank (2002)
  9. SOCOM II: U.S. Navy SEALs (2003)
  10. Hot Shots Golf 3 (2001)
  11. God of War II (2007)
  12. Racthet & Clank: Going Commando (2003)
  13. Jak II (2003)
  14. ATV Offroad Fury (2001)
  15. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (2004)

Microsoft Game Studios

  1. Halo 2 (2004)
  2. Halo: Combat Evolved (2001)
  3. Fable (2004)
  4. PGR: Project Gotham Racing (2001)

Gears isn't first party. And I thought ME wasn't since there was rumours about it being on PS3? Not sure but I was under the impression they were an EA studio?
