Nope, FFXIV is the MMO. FFXVIII is going to be a SP game, more action oriented than any Main FF game, kinda like a KH game, mixed with the fast action sequences of Advent Children

So wait FF versus 13 is what? 

From what we know so far, it's going to be a darker themed FF, centered around the mythology of the world of Cocoon. 

Nomura said that the focus and gameplay of the game is going to be a mix of KH and Advent Children, as both of the teams are working on this FF. It's not going to be a main FF, it's more of a spinoff, like FFX-2 and FF Mystic Quest were. 

Hmm. 

 

With the name Versus you think it would be a MP title or coop.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII is not a spin off of FFXIII. They are two coexisting entries within Fabula Nova Crystalis. The only thing binding them is their mythology of Crystals(and apparently Shinigami). They were virtually announced at the same time and comparable budgets. Nomura says do not think of Versus as a spin off but rather a "New Direction", which is what Versus means in latin. Its pretty much at the fork in the road known as 13 you have 3 paths: FFXIII,FF Versus XIII, and FF Agito XIII. I'm thinking SE is waiting to see which one fan's take a liking too best and expect recurring sequals to emulate that.

Versus's story will be darker, and we are all but assured a sad ending. Made even more likely because the story will embody certain elements of Shakespeare and his biggest theme being Tragedy.

Battle system will be the child of Kingdom Hearts meets Advent Children. The game might be Mature rated.
