While the combat was interesting and some of the minigames were quite flashy (particularly the last boss) I have to disagree.

The game can be longer, and I mention that there are alot of side quest type things to take up your time if you so care to, but adding that still doesn't add up to a good value for a game that's most closely related to Zelda (which are the gold standard for value for such a game and have far more value)

And I definitely don't agree that the game looks beautiful.  There are a few cool visuals aesthetically, but technically the game is nothing amazing, and the sometimes atrocious dialogue/voiceacting helped bring the presentation back down to 7.0

Yet you complain about the combat, and give it no praise for where it works extremely well. And when it works, it is a fucking blast. Instead you trash it for the low points.

My problem with your length is it is entirely inconsistent with the text of the review. You say you got lost (despite the game being completely linear), and did side quests and yet beat the game in 9 hours. Without getting lost, and not goofing off I am at 11. I could have shaved maybe an hour or two off by catching a train here or there, but no way 9 hours to beat it unless you are trying to beat it as fast as humanly possible. The text and the numbers just don't add up on that one.

The voice acting is also not terrible as you seem to imply, nor is the dialogue. It is standard Square Enix quality. Yes it is absolutely atrocious compared to other media, but compared to video games it is absolutely fine.

"This gameplay mechanic could get stale pretty quickly, but Crystal Bearers does a lot to keep it varied. While you can just toss random objects at your enemies, there is a bit of strategy in how different things interact. Let’s say you are facing a bomb grouped up with two goblins. Now you could just pick up random objects and throw them at the three until they perish, but that will end up taking a lot of time and you might not clear the area in time to avoid a respawn. I found the best way to take out a group like this is to find a barrel of gunpowder and throw it at the bomb, this will make the bomb explode but before it explodes it will shine and attract the goblins into the blast zone. Now you have killed all three in one fell swoop. It is also possible to enhance your abilities by buying or creating equipment and this is particularly helpful in increasing the range of your telekinetic abilities."

That is my paragraph talking about the interesting interactions that are in the gameplay.  I just don't agree that when it works "it's a fucking blast"

As for the length, I've played it, I kept track as I've played all of my games and allowed myself to play in 2 hour spurts usually.  I compared the final tally with that said by whatever save file data I can find.  As I mention in the review, I skipped alot of combat because I could.  There were a number of times I was walking through an area I didn't manage to clear the first time and instead of trying again I just passed it up because I didn't need the Myrrh heart.  Regardless I can tell you that I did get lost, I did play some minigames (I saved people at a crash site, picked rainbow fruit, and a few others) and my final tally was 9 hours.

Voice acting we will have to disagree on.  I cringed at quite a few of Layle's lines as well as Cid in general.
