steverhcp02 said: Too many long discussion so this may have been said already: I just dont understand it. If you look at the top selling games of the Wii. I posted this in another thread: http://vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?page=1&results=50&name=&console=Wii&minSales=0&publisher=&genre= Of the top 30 selling games WW 10 have mario or sonic in them. |
I salute you sir for this. No, seriously, I do: I always appreciate it when someone presents a factually true yet highly incomplete picture and then uses it to warp things to support his argument.
Now tell me: out of the top 30 selling games worldwide for all platforms this generation, how many have Mario or Sonic in them?
Ten. Ten out of the top thirty selling games on all platforms worldwide have Mario or Sonic in them.
Of the remaining twenty, five (5) are Wii ___ games, and nine (9) are mini-game compilations. Three are PC games.
Again, all platforms worldwide this generation.
So as I said, well done! It seems like no one else has pointed out your sleight of hand so far, and I applaud your no-doubt deliberate use of this logical fallacy in the furtherance of your viewpoint.

All of those games are, yes. But many other games are not. I'm looking at one right now (Baroque), and I'm not even staring at my collection.
Carl2291 said: They might have stopped buying those specific games, but they didn't stop buying those type of games. Top selling Wii games from this weeks top 25 that aren't Nintendo published, and don't feature any Nintendo characters (afaik)... 8. Just Dance Did they really stop buying those? |
With the exception of Lego Star Wars, yes they have, in comparison to how they bought those games' prequels (when applicable) and predecessors (when not).
Seriously dude, you should know this, you're on a sales site.

I would never have guessed.
Garnett said: If Wii owners bought more serious games then maybe they would put more games on the System, lets say if CoD flopped on 360 and barely broke a million sold after 4 years you think they would make a sequel and loose more money? |
I dunno, let's ask Call of Duty 3 (PS3 version) if selling under a million (and worse than the Wii version!) stopped them from making a sequel for that system and "loosing" more money.
Well shit, I guess the answer is no!

You're missing the forest for the trees, dude.
You see, when a Wii owner complains about the quality of third-party offerings, he/she is complaining about just that: the quality of third-party offerings. Most of them are not, in fact, actually clamoring to get HD games directly ported to the Wii, although their inability to express themselves often makes it sound like this is what they're asking for.
No, what they want is for third-parties to put their A-teams behind Wii projects to make Wii games. You know, rather than forming a new studio to make Wii games and stuffing it with new employees, put an experienced, capable, and proven team behind the Wii game. Less spinoffs of spinoffs, and more flagship efforts. When choosing specific studios to develop the game, try a little less Tose and a little more Team Ninja. That sort of thing.
I'd rhetorically ask if that's an unreasonable thing to expect for the market leader, but we both know I'd be wasting my time.
gekkokamen said: @dunno001 why should they put any more effort than what Nintendo does with their own games? You ask nintendo for games and they do what? throw you another one of the SAME bones? |
I'm now so very confused. Do we hate Nintendo because they're just doing more of the same, or do we hate them because they're doing something new and different? I'm cool either way, I just wish you folks would give me the policy statement before I go making hullaballoos in the street.

Miyamoto had a hand in the development. Likely for the worse, though.
