"Maybe the best developers, directors and producers dont want to sacrifice their vision and scope at the expense of a userbase that mostly consists of people interested in carnival games, fitness games, and deca sports resort."

They stopped buying those. Did you even pay attention to recent news?

They might have stopped buying those specific games, but they didn't stop buying those type of games.

Top selling Wii games from this weeks top 25 that aren't Nintendo published, and don't feature any Nintendo characters (afaik)...

8. Just Dance
9. MW: Reflex
10. EA Sports Active
11. Your Shape ft. JM
13. LEGO SW
14. Band Hero
15. Deal or no Deal
16. Taiko something
18. NERF NStrike Elite
20. EA Sports Active +
21. Carnival Games Mini Golf
22. Toy Story Mania
24. Random long named Japanese game.
25. Hasbro Family Game Night 2

Did they really stop buying those?

At the level when it showed they preferred those games over everything else.

And Monster Hunter 3 shows the vision can still be done, just with more imagination and talent than just thinking you need the best graphics.

They obviously are still prefering and wanting those type of games. The rest of the top 50 is just as bad.

Monster Hunter 3 is a huge, huge game. After the massive success of the games on PSP, 1 Million was all but guarenteed. It's surprising that it took so long to reach 1 Million IMO. And Monster Hunter 3 is one of the best looking Wii games out right now...

Which means any similar game from a hit series can do well on the Wii, since if the audience didn't want those games it would not have sold that many.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
