Yes, Royal is the most flexible of all classes, since you'll have 6/9 more Soul Level level ups that you can use to shape your character in the fashion that you want ;)
I went with Thief, even though it had some pretty balanced stats as well, it started with an already high SL, 9 :(

What happened? Did you lose a huge number of souls? That's what normally happens when someone says f*** this game :P (I did it as well a couple of pages ago xD)
