That's giving him too much credit. What I think is that he saw NPD results yesterday and had a meltdown. After the initial meltdown he ran to the nearest keyboard and furiously slammed away at the keys to type up his insecurities and hatred. This isn't about Splosionman at all. This is about taking Mario, and by extension Nintendo, down a peg or two. Splosionman is just cannon fodder for his crusade. He doesn't care about it. He just needed an underdog to go after Mario with. This is why is arguments boil down to the asinine likes of "it has more levels" and "it has online." This is a man that gets paid to write and talk about video games for a living and he can't do better than that? If he truly had reasons and conviction behind what he wrote, he would have been able to come up with some actual points. What he did was write a piece that was sloppy at best and has become nothing more but a testament of the sinking ship that is IGN. But under the assumption that he actually was prompted to do this "editorial" based on Splosionman's sales (does anyone have any actual figures/estimates?), this would be the first time that I've seen someone blame the Wii for the failures of software that's not even on that platform. Hilarious if true. |
LMAO I never thought about that, it would be hilarious.
I don't know why the "splosion man has more levels" is that big of a deal it has 50 singleplayer and 50 multiplayer levels, NSMB Wii has about 80 that can be played in MP and SP and they're longer, if he wanted a point he could have brought up LBP (which I think is like 85 levels) and about a about million user made levels all of which can be played multi or single... and they can be of various lengths
