I don't see why they should mess with Conan for Leno failing. Odds are, he won't do any better since a lot of people are mad over what happened. |
The Jay leno Show isn't a failure, its meeting what NBC expected from it, but the NBC affiliates weren't happy with the smaller lead in and the 10 pm dramas that were all moved saw ratings drop as well. I kinda feel bad for Leno alot of people are getting mad at him because NBC screwed up

Ratings on the Jay Leno show were really low from what I have always heard. I don't really hate Leno, although watching someone parody somebody else always amuses me. I am not a big fan of Leno but the whole situation kind of pisses me off. Of course from the Media, it seems like Leno is pushing for the change just as much as NBC are pushing it.

Leno usually averages 5 million + from The Tonight Show and when he switched to primetime, he got somewhere around 6, maybe 6.5 million people, which is what everyone expected. NBC projected 300 million dollars a year profit from The Jay Leno Show. It was the affliates who got Leno's shows canceled. Conan O'Brien on the other hand, is getting 2.5 million to maybe 3 million viewers when he took over The Tonight Show. If you were NBC, who would you go with? Leno or O'Brien?

Erm. From what I initially read, it made it seem like it was NBC's fault. But at the same time, I've heard there were very lackluster ratings for the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien....So I guess I can understand the situation. I think this would have all been resolved if they just got rid of Fallon. -.-

It is NBC's fault. They should have seen this problem coming from a mile away and completely mishandled the situation but right now, everyone (Leno, NBC, O'Brien) should be working to resolve the problem. Getting rid of Fallon won't solve anything unless you're expecting Conan to come back to The Late Show and considering the fact that he can't even compromise by moving the Tonight Show back half an hour...Just to be clear, it's Conan who is threating to leave. NBC is not taking show from him (well until he said he was leaving). I'm just sick of everyone placing the blame on Jay Leno, especially Kimmel for placing his nose where it doesn't belong. Fine, O'Brien got the shaft, but so did Leno in 2004 when NBC pretty much said they were going to fire him from the Tonight Show after his contract expired.
