How does the PS3 slim not over heat?

if it wasn't for the fact my ps3 wasn't backwards and sexy shiny i'd get a slim, however, i distrust sony this gen because the PS3 is the first console i ever owned that broke on me.

I may very well join the slim siders for the sake of safety.
