It's pretty neat, as this has been the first generation where I've hosted "Gaming Parties", and they've been a bunch of fun. I'm more of a solo gamer, but when multiplayer presents itself, why not celebrate the game with others around you?
Our first party was with Wii Sports, and it was a huuuge success. In fact, I held two more "Wii Sports" parties at my place. We played, laughed, swung, missed, laughed even harder... and just had a wonderful time.
Since then there's been parties for Guitar Hero/Rock Band, Wii Sports Resort (Precision Slice game = Huge hit), and New Super Mario Bros. (So many great times with this one) and they've all been a blast. I love it when a console can bring people together. ^_^
Not saying you can't do this with other consoles (L4D2 and Halo parties come to mind), but with Wii... it's just a different beast.
