SnowWhitesDrug said: its not a bad thing to take ideas from these other games. Nintendo need to focus zelda I think. The focused a version of zelda with cell shading, but they need to focus the next non cell shaded zelda in a way that lets us know exactly what nintendo want zelda to be. At the moment there are many other distinctive series out there. The 3 I play are elder scrolls, assassins creed and fable. Each are very different but they do overlap in alot of areas. At the moment every element of zelda is suck in the last gen. It has its own distinctive elements but these are just simpler versions of the elements found in these other RPG and adventure games. Assassins creed focuses on combat from an assassins point of view. Fable focuses on the players interaction and shaping of the world around them, and elder scrolls is just pure rpg goodness in all its glory. At the moment Zelda is just a shalow adventure game with a story line and world every one has come to love because of its history. It makes no advancements for the gaming industry to stand back and be like "wow we must follow zeldas lead" but because this is nintendo I believe they should be shaking the industry with their games! because thats all they ever talk about with the wii, but I'm yet to see them make a wii game that advances the industry as far as game play mechanics go. adding motion controls is not a game play advancing mechanic, its just a substitute for pressing a button. |
Wow, I could not disagree with that more. Zelda needs to be Zelda, not Fable. The first Zelda had almost no interaction with other people. That's what Zelda is, exploring the overworld and finding dunegoens and such. If you want games like those, play those. Link is not an assassin.
I take it you haven't played Wii Sports Resort. The motion controls in the sword fighting most definitely add to the gameplay.
"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy
