I like gaming for a large variety of reasons. Story, exploring strange new worlds, meeting the characters created by others, engineering a society or empire, building my own city, many many reasons.... The vast beauty of Skies of Arcadia, the rich setting world of Final Fantasy 8, the vast history of Xenogears/Saga, the many worlds to conquer of Civilization, or taking another trip across the world of Super Mario Brothers 3, or again taking part in the true Legend of Zelda, the Ocarina of Time, or trying to complete Faxanadu as fast as I can... There are many many reasons; and the reasons I listed for the games above are only a small sample of the reasons why I like those games....
Achievements are not a reason though, I don't see any significance to them unless they unlock new content. Otherwise they're kind of a practical joke, something very cheap for doing a lot of hard work.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
