I've always thought SEGA was a good fit honestly, I know they lack the talent they once had, but the damn net exploded when Sonic was announced for Brawl, the work Nintendo could do with the IPs acquired alone would be worth the investment both in boosted sales for Nintendo but gamers as well because Nintendo would hopefully put some real talent behind those games even if they have to take one of their main teams to make a Sonic game proper.
Like imagine one of the Mario teams making a Sonic game, it'd be sick. But even if they kept Sonic team on the project they'd likely lend help to them, Miyamoto popping in like he did with Retro working on Metroid and told them to trash the 3rd person game, imagine sonic unleashed and they show the werehog stage, Miyamoto squints, and tells them to trash it :P lol
