Funny how everyone forgets to mention this game whenever talking about the lack of sales for M rated games on the Wii, pointing to Dead Space Extraction or Madworld instead. M rated Wii games can sell if they are not niche and have a good deal of content. This game is an example of that.

They also forget Resident Evil 4 unless they exclude ports just to reduce the number.

But it's true. Those games would not have sold well on the HD systems, so acting as though the Wii made them not sell is just BS made up to make the Wii look bad.

Let alone the M rated games.

- The Force Unleashed sell better on Wii than in PS3.

- Guitar Hero 3, 4, 5, Aerosmith, Smash Hits, Van Halen  sold more in Wii than in the HD Consoles. Only the XBOX 360 version of Metallica outsold the Wii version so far and only by 1K.

- With Rock Band entries happens something only a bit different. The Wii versions always outsell the PS3 version and when it comes to Rock Band: Beatles, it even outsells 360.

- Ghostbusters sells 0.52m in PS3, 0.44m in 360 and 0.33m in Wii. Though is the third one on this dispute, I guess it still sold quite well.

- Shaun White only got a sequel on Wii. And before that sold the double than in 360 and more than the triple than in PS3.

- Lego Batman, Star Wars and Indiana Jones all did better on Wii than in the HD consoles.

- Sonic Unleashed did better on Wii. I wonder what will happen with the All Stars Racing.

- Tiger Woods PGA sells better on Wii (Well implemented and intuitive motion controls).

- I wonder how Mega Man 9 did on the three consoles.

You might argue if these are core games at all, you might even say that all of them but TFU are casual games (are they? really?), but what I intend to point out is that when games are properly developt they sell pretty well on Wii, in many cases even better than in the HD consoles.

I think the more evident trend there is that any well known brand name or franchise that has an appeal beyond just video games (i.e. Star Wars, Resident Evil, Ghosatbusters, Tiger Woods, Sonic) will have a better time on Wii. The Wii audience is drawan stcn towards well known franchises and brand names rather then 'The Conduit' (As a completely random example of something most people don't know what is).

In my opinion Call of Duty has now become a brand name 'larger' then just gaming - and is something people who haven't played games before can still probably tell you what is, just like the names Mario, Halo, Grand Theft Auto etc. That's why it's selling in my opinion. It's not so much about whether it's a core game or whatever, just the Wii audience will gravitate towards recogniseable brand names or well marketed games.

How is this any different than the audience on competing platforms?

It's not for the most part, but the trend seems ways more evident. While other platforms have the space for a new IP to have success, like Demons Souls or Assassin's Creed or Army of Two, it feels like Wii games rely on that well known brand more so. It could be that no ones really marketing a new IP on the Wii with as much aggression, but the charts don't really lie.

I mean outside the well known Nintendo names, you've got Call of Duty, Cabelas Hunter, The Beatles, Hasbro, Disney, NERF and Toy Story as the big sellers for the Christmas week on Wii.
