I think the more evident trend there is that any well known brand name or franchise that has an appeal beyond just video games (i.e. Star Wars, Resident Evil, Ghosatbusters, Tiger Woods, Sonic) will have a better time on Wii. The Wii audience is drawan stcn towards well known franchises and brand names rather then 'The Conduit' (As a completely random example of something most people don't know what is). In my opinion Call of Duty has now become a brand name 'larger' then just gaming - and is something people who haven't played games before can still probably tell you what is, just like the names Mario, Halo, Grand Theft Auto etc. That's why it's selling in my opinion. It's not so much about whether it's a core game or whatever, just the Wii audience will gravitate towards recogniseable brand names or well marketed games. |
How is this any different than the audience on competing platforms?
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
