as we all know form our calenders, this week is wii third party software week,  with analysis ranging from the future, to sales last year, to games released in 2007.Sega has had a go and capcom france has had a go. Now its time to combine them and find Sega France's opinion.

In an attempt to be better than  a lot of articles appearing on other sites, this thread will

1. not promote one person's opinion as reflective of an entire company.

2. give a full account of what was said. not a single controversial quote.

and so, here is what James Rebours, CEO of Sega France and Spain has to say about his companies performance.  This ins translated and kinda difficult to read so ill be giving an overview. For what was said in full hit  http://nintendoeverything.com/30815/#more-30815

  • virtua tennis sales were dissappointing and below expectations, mainly due to competition with grand slam tennis. The PS3 verion sold best
  • a while back, sega decided to target more gamer side of wii demographic with specific genres. success is quite big compared with other company's attempts. The figures are good but they wont be released or it would cause a big stir. The figures look bad comapred to wii's casual software but are good compared with similar game son 360 and PS3. out of conduit, madworld and overkill, the latter 2 sold best, with broadly similar sales.
  • believes they have hit the majority of madworld's target market. States that the number of people interested in such game is very small even without taking into account the problems of the platform. However there is room  for growth in this demographic.
  • suggests nintendo could help build the market for core games. sega, capcom and EA have all contributed to this market on wii but nintendo hasn't. believes the wii needs a big ticket type mature game from nintnedo with a large marketing campaign in order to build the demographic.
  • Commits to the wii gamer market. believe they are better suited to do this than any other third party. Thier lineup of wii exclusives gives them legitimency and they alone understand the benefits of  exploring the wii gamer market. EA has started to but only in 2009

so there we have it. there are some interesting points from this article. one is that the only bit that seems to have got any attention is the bit where  he's slightly negative of nintendo. The other is the commitment to wii gamer games. I fully expect sega to support HVS and headstrong as their top wii developers and bot will release titles next year.  remeber he his tlaking about gamer games, not mature games.

I predict sega will release the grinder (M) from HVS and the stratergist (E) from headstrong in 2010, and possibly more titles as well
